Online Desk:
National Security Advisor to the interim government, Khalilur Rahman, has made it clear that there has been no discussion with anyone about the humanitarian corridor in the Rakhine region. He said, “I want to say unequivocally, no one has had any discussion with us about the corridor, nor will there be.”
He said this at a press conference organized at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital on Wednesday (May 21, 2025) afternoon. The press conference was organized in the wake of various statements and rumors circulating about a possible humanitarian corridor surrounding the Rakhine situation.
The National Security Advisor also said, “Whether or not to launch a humanitarian channel is Bangladesh’s own and sovereign decision. There is no pressure on us from America or China in this regard. If a humanitarian corridor is established, the full responsibility and accountability will lie with the United Nations. Bangladesh will only ensure border security.”
Khalilur Rahman also made a clear statement about his citizenship at the press conference. He said, “I do not have citizenship of any other country except Bangladesh. Even though I am in the United States with my family, I do not have any foreign passport.”
He also said, “If citizenship is proven only by being abroad, then BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will also have to face the same question. Therefore, such propaganda should be refrained from.”
