Meeting held to strengthen cooperation in tourism between Bangladesh and Malaysia

The Honorable Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Tourism, Mr. M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, held a fruitful meeting with the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) of Malaysia, YB Tuan Chiew Choon Man, in Putrajaya, Malaysia on Tuesday (August 18, 2026). The meeting was attended by the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Malaysia, H.E. Mr. Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury.

The meeting discussed various possibilities to further strengthen mutual cooperation in the tourism sector between Bangladesh and Malaysia. Emphasis was placed on creating diverse and attractive tourism experiences for tourists from both countries as well as opening up new opportunities for cooperation in the tourism sector.

The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as cultural exchanges, increasing the number and frequency of flights between the two countries, developing skills and capabilities, facilitating visa procedures and pre-verification, and exchanging experiences, knowledge and success models in the tourism sector.

In addition, the two sides also discussed cooperation in training and skill development in the hospitality sector. Emphasis was placed on further strengthening cooperation in this area to meet the needs of skilled and trained manpower in the tourism and hospitality sectors of Malaysia and increase the opportunities for hiring qualified Bangladeshi workers.

In the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of developing tourism, increasing people-to-people contacts, and deepening mutual understanding through cultural exchanges. It was hoped that such cooperation would play an important role in taking tourism and cultural relations between Bangladesh and Malaysia to new heights.

Also present at the meeting were Mr. Chua Choon Hwa, Director of International Promotion for Asia and Africa, Tourism Malaysia Madam Nuwal Fadhilah Ku Azmi, senior officials from MOTAC and Tourism Malaysia, Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh Ms. Mosammat Shahanara Monica and First Secretary (Commercial) of the Bangladesh High Commission Mr. Pranab Kumar Ghosh.
