Staff Correspondent:

Media Conference-2026 is underway in the capital to express a united stand in favor of independent, responsible and courageous journalism. This conference is being held at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium in Khamarbari from this Saturday (January 17, 2026) morning.

The conference was officially inaugurated at 10:17 am with the performance of the national anthem. After that, the history of state intervention in newspapers and media at various times was highlighted. According to the organizers, the conference will continue until 1:30 pm.

The Newspaper Owners Association of Bangladesh (NOAB) and the editors’ organization, Editors’ Council, have jointly organized this conference. In addition, journalists working outside Dhaka and editors and publishers of various media outlets are also participating in the gathering.

During the gathering, discussions are being held on the safety of journalists, freedom of expression, and the responsible role of the media.
