Measures are being taken to ensure no government can shut down the internet in the future: Foyez Ahmed

Foyez Ahmed Tayeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, stated that the interim government is working to ensure that no future government in Bangladesh can shut down the internet. He further mentioned, “We are working to declare the internet as a fundamental right for the citizens of Bangladesh.”

He made this comment while participating in the ‘Startup Connect’ session of the Bangladesh Investment Summit-2025 on Monday, April 7, 2025.

Other participants in the discussion included Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), and Shish Haider Chowdhury, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology and Chairman of Startup Bangladesh Limited.
