Local Government Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan unveils ‘Felani Avenue’ nameplate at Gulshan-2 roundabout

Advisor to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and Housing and Public Works, Adilur Rahman Khan said, the people of Bangladesh want an end to border killings. Our sister Felani gave her life while hanging from a wire. We are naming this road to remind us of this, to remind us every day of the kind of atrocities committed against her.

He also said, at the same time, we are presenting to the conscience of the world that a heinous situation like border killings is prevailing on the border of Bangladesh. And that is why the current government wants to stop all border killings, so I inaugurated the road in the name of Felani on today’s Victory Day.

Local Government Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan said this at the unveiling ceremony of the nameplate of the road from Gulshan-2 to Pragati Sarani as ‘Felani Avenue’ in memory of Felani, a teenager who was shot dead by BSF at the border, organized by the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) at Gulshan-2 roundabout today.

Local Government Division Secretary Md. Rezaul Maksud Zahedi, Public Works Secretary Md. Nazrul Islam, RAJUK Chairman Engineer Md. Riazul Islam and Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Mohammad Ejaz along with DNCC officials were present at the time.

At the unveiling ceremony of the Felani Avenue nameplate, Local Government Division Secretary Md. Rezaul Maksud Zahedi said, ‘The Felani murder is not just a murder; it is a clear violation of human rights.’

At that time, DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz said, ‘This road has been named after Felani as a symbol and protest to maintain our honor as a country with our heads held high.’

After the unveiling of the nameplate, Maulana Ansar ul Karim, Imam of DNCC Mosque, led the prayer.
