Libya expressed interest in hiring more professional and skilled Bangladeshis

The Ambassador of Libya to Bangladesh, Abdul Mutalib SM Suleiman, has expressed his interest in hiring more professional and skilled Bangladeshi workers to assist in the development of Libya and expressed Libya’s desire to increase the import of Bangladesh-made garments and jute products.

Ambassador Mr. Abdul Mutalib SM Suliman on Sunday (December 22) Foreign Secretary Ambassador Md. Jasim expressed his interest in a courtesy meeting with Uddin.

A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that in the meeting, both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthen long-term cooperation as they prepare to celebrate 50 years of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Libya next year.

The Foreign Secretary stressed on increasing cooperation in the agricultural sector and enhancing people-to-people connectivity and emphasized the need to establish strong ties between the Chambers of Commerce of both the countries to enhance business exchanges.

He also called on the Libyan side to increase government-level engagement to finalize an agreement on visa waivers for diplomatic and government passport holders.

Acknowledging the challenges of irregular migration, Ambassador Suleiman spoke of Libya’s efforts to implement an electronic registration system to address the problem.

The Foreign Secretary appreciated the significant contribution of Bangladeshi professionals and workers to the Libyan economy and reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to promote regular migration by sending more skilled workers and professionals.

Both sides agreed to expedite the signing of an MoU covering a wide range of issues to facilitate high-level visits and further bilateral cooperation for bilateral consultations.
