On Wednesday (November 12, 2025) the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, in partnership with the Bangladesh Association of Foreign & Import Food Suppliers Association (BAFISA), hosted a significant K-Food Export Promotion Seminar to explore the expanding opportunities and navigate the challenges for Korean food products in the rapidly growing Bangladesh market.
The event brings together diplomats, government officials, and leading industry experts to facilitate stronger trade ties in the food sector. Mr. Nahian Rahman Rochi, Head of Business Development of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), as the Special Guest.

H.E. Mr. Park Young-sik, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea said “this event serves as a meaningful platform to explore new opportunities for cooperation in the food sector between Korea and Bangladesh, at a time when Korean food is gaining remarkable popularity around the world. With the participation of BAFISA members and the cooperation of BIDA, today’s seminar is intended to share market insights, introduce product categories and standards including halal compliance and quality assurance and build practical links among stakeholders. Korean companies have been long-standing partners of Bangladesh, contributing significantly to the rise of the RMG industry. I believe that bilateral CEPA could serve as the next motor engine to elevate our partnership to new heights in the next fifty years.

A key focus of the seminar will be tackling practical aspects of market entry. Attendees will gain valuable insights on: Market Dynamics: Mr. Jongwan Park, CEO of K-Market, discussed the “Opportunities and Challenges for K-Food in the Bangladesh Market,” while Mr. Mohammed Faraque, Proprietor, Kaniz Enterprise, presents Success Stories of Introducing Foreign Foods into Bangladesh and Mr. Shohel Ahmed, Managing Director of S&S Venture Ltd, present on “Bangladesh Consumer Trends in Imported Food Products,” shedding light on local preferences.
Regulatory Framework: Addressing import complexities, Mr. Md Borhan-e-Sultan, President of BAFISA, spoke on “Regulatory and Customs Challenges in Importing Food into Bangladesh.” This session is crucial for establishing clear, compliant trade pathways.

Global Outlook: Providing a regional perspective, Mr. Shin Soo Chul, Deputy Director of the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) in Bangkok, presented on “K-Food Global Export Trends and Future Outlook in Asia.”
The seminar reflects the growing cultural and economic exchange between the two nations, driven by the global popularity of Korean culture (Hallyu). The goal is to provide a clear roadmap for Korean exporters and Bangladeshi importers, ensuring a smooth and successful entry for high-quality K-Food products.
