Japan Festival 2026 Held in Dhaka

Diplomatic Desk:

‘Japan Festival 2026’ was held in Dhaka to showcase Japanese culture and heritage in Bangladesh. Returning after a seven-year hiatus, the festival took place at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

The event was organized by the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh, SAIDA Shinichi, delivered a speech at the inaugural ceremony. Minister of Cultural Affairs, Hevi Nitai Roy Chowdhury, attended the event as the chief guest.

Following the opening ceremony, various traditional Japanese cultural performances were presented to the audience, including demonstrations of the traditional martial arts Karate and Kendo.

Later, the Japanese musical duo ‘Bajna Beat’ performed jointly with Bangladeshi artists. In the final segment of the festival, Japanese dancer SENJU Einojo performed a traditional Japanese dance.

Visitors also had the opportunity to experience Japanese culture firsthand at the venue. Activities included Sado (the Japanese tea ceremony), various traditional cultural engagements, and exhibitions showcasing different aspects of Japanese culture.

Additionally, visitors had the chance to explore Japanese cuisine, with various dishes prepared by an embassy chef being served. Displays featuring traditional Japanese art and cultural elements—such as Bonsai and Ikebana—were also showcased.

Special arrangements were made for students interested in higher education in Japan, allowing them to receive information and advice from consultants regarding study opportunities there.

According to the organizers, Japan Festival 2026 not only deepened cultural ties between the people of Bangladesh and Japan but also created a significant opportunity for Bangladeshis to familiarize themselves with Japan’s diverse and rich culture.
