An emergency meeting of the Central Executive Council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was held at the central office in the capital on Tuesday (August 19, 2025) afternoon. The meeting was presided over by the organization’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former member of parliament Professor Mujibur Rahman.
The meeting was attended by Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher (former MP) and Maulana Anam Shamsul Islam (former MP), Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar (former MP), Assistant Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Dr. Hamidur Rahman Azad, Maulana Abdul Halim, Ed. Moazzam Hossain Helal and Ed. Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair. In addition, Executive Council members Mr. Abdur Rob, Mr. Saiful Alam Khan Milon, Ed. Matiur Rahman Akand, Principal Shahabuddin, Principal Izzat Ullah, Mr. Mubarak Hossain and Mr. Md. Selim Uddin participated in the meeting.
The meeting discussed in detail the July National Charter provided by the Consensus Commission. After the discussion, it was decided that some issues of the charter would be discussed directly with the Consensus Commission.
The Executive Council informed that a strong demand is being made to the interim government to hold a presidential proclamation or referendum to provide a legal basis for the July National Charter. In addition, a demand was also made to implement the July National Charter as a legal basis for the transition to democracy and to hold the next national parliamentary elections in light of it.
