Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman highlighted the main points of discussion of six meetings held with top officials of the European Union at a press conference held at the Westin Hotel in the capital on Thursday (April 17, 2025) afternoon. The meetings were held recently in Brussels.
The press conference was informed that the focus of the discussions was on establishing sustainable democracy, increasing foreign investment in Bangladesh, the possibility of setting up embassies of European countries and the Rohingya crisis.


Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “The issues of establishing a sustainable democratic system in Bangladesh, protecting human rights and economic progress have been highlighted with importance to the EU representatives.”
He also mentioned a personal meeting with BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. He clarified, “There was no political discussion in this meeting. It was a completely personal and courtesy meeting.”
