Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has expressed deep shock over the tragic incident in which a Bangladesh Air Force training plane crashed into the Milestone School and College building in the Diyabari area of Uttara, capital Dhaka, killing and injuring many students, including the pilot.
In a condolence statement on Monday (July 21), Dr. Shafiq said, “I am deeply saddened by this tragic accident. A training plane crashed around 1 pm and caught fire. Pilot Flight Lieutenant Tauqir and many students were martyred in the incident (Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un). More than a hundred students are still battling for their lives in the hospital with burns.”
In the statement, he called on Jamaat-e-Islami’s people from all walks of life and the local people to actively participate in the rescue operation and provide all-out support to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
He said, “I pray for the forgiveness of the souls of the deceased and pray that Allah Almighty accepts them as martyrs. I wish the injured a full recovery. At the same time, I call on the concerned authorities to ensure the immediate treatment and necessary assistance to the injured.”
