Islami Bank launchesEid remittance campaign: 12 freezers and 50,000 backpacks declared

Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC launched a month-long campaign titled “Special Eid Remittance Campaign” on 29 April 2025, Tuesdayat Islami Bank Tower. During the campaign, remitters who send remittances through Western Union to Islami Bank will have the chance to win a total of 12 freezers, with three awarded each week through a digital draw. Additionally, 50,000 remittance beneficiaries will receive backpacks from branches, sub-branches and agent outlets.

Md. Omar Faruk Khan, Managing Director (Current Charge) of the bank,inaugurated the campaign as the chief guest. Md. Altaf Hossain, additional managing director,was present as special guest at the event. Md. Rafiqul Islam, deputy managing director, presided over the event while Mohammad Jamal Uddin Mazumder, additional managing director, Md. MahboobAlam, Mahmudur Rahman, Muhammad Sayeed Ullah and Md. Maksudur Rahman, deputy managing directors of the bank, were present.

Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, vice presidentand head of Overseas Banking Division of the bank, addressed the welcome speech. Senior Officials of Western Union, senior executives and officials of the bank’s head office were present. Besides head of zones, head of branches and sub-branch in-charges of the bank attended the function through virtual platform.

In his speech, Md. Omar Faruk Khan stated that public confidence in Islami Bank has grown significantly in recent times and the bank is gradually returning to its previousglory. He further mentioned that one-fourth of the country’s total remittance is channeled through Islami Bank. Western Union has also played a role in this success.

Since 2012, Islami Bank has been working with Western Union to facilitate remittance collection. He emphasized the need to continue this momentum and urged all branches, sub-branches, and agent outlets to provide the highest level of service with a target of collecting USD 2 billion in remittances through Western Union this year.
