Islami Bank inaugurates the Cyber ​​Security Awareness campaign

Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC organized a fortnight campaign titled ‘‘ Cyber Security Awareness’’. Mohammed Monirul Moula, Managing Director of the bank inaugurated the campaign as chief guest on Monday (21 October, 2024) at Islami Bank Tower.

Md. Omar Faruk Khan, Md. Altaf Hossain & Mohammad Jamal Uddin Mazumder, Additional Managing Directors of the bank addressed the program as special guests. Mohammad Rezaul Karim, Executive Vice President presided over the program while S.M. Mizanur Rahman, Senior Vice President of the bank addressed the welcome speech. Head of wings & divisions, senior executives of Head Office were present at the event. Heads of zones, heads of branches and sub-branch in-charges of the bank attended the function through virtual platform

In his keynote speech, Mohammed Monirul Moula emphasized that cyber security awareness is the most important thing in today’s Fintech world. He stressed that all units of the bank should play a strong role in cyber security awareness in providing technical services to the customers. He urged all concerned to implement the highest standard of cyber security management to detect and prevent all types of risks in banking operations including customer passwords, OTP, e-mail and web browsing.

He further clarified that bank never calls the customer and asks for OTP or password. He warned that fraudsters often deceive customers by offering fake lotteries or account maintenance services, obtaining OTP sent to the customers’ phones. He called on bank officials to educate customers and to raise awareness on these risks.
