Investigation committee formed into passenger bus falling into river at Daulatdia ferry terminal

Desk Report:

The Ministry of Shipping has formed a 6-member investigation committee to investigate the incident where a passenger bus fell into the Padma River from a pontoon while boarding a ferry at Daulatdia ferry terminal in Rajbari, causing casualties.

Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping Md. Muhidul Islam will serve as the convener of this investigation committee, formed to uncover the real cause of the incident and identify the responsible persons.

The other members of the committee are – a representative of the Deputy Commissioner, Rajbari; a representative of the Naval Police; a representative of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA); a representative of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC); and a representative of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Department.

The investigation committee will investigate the cause of the accident, identify the responsible persons and submit a report within the next three working days. After receiving this investigation report, appropriate legal action will be taken against the responsible persons and necessary steps will be taken to prevent such accidents in the future.
