An international seminar titled ‘Blue Economy: Unlocking the Potentials of Oceans for Sustainable Development of Bangladesh’ was held at Bangladesh Maritime University.
Bangladesh Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hasan, OSP, NPP, NDC, NCC, PSC- was present as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the seminar. The ‘Key Note’ of the seminar was presented by Professor Dr. Pierre Feiler, Professor of the University of Portsmouth, UK and Chair of Ocean Governance at UNESCO.
Renowned experts from home and abroad participated in the seminar and discussed in detail the potential and challenges of Bangladesh’s economic development through proper management of marine resources.
In addition, the topics of discussion included digitalization of shipping, ocean governance, marine research and the impact of climate change. This seminar is expected to play an important role in increasing Bangladesh’s capacity in the blue economy sector.
