Honorable Advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Syeda Rizwana Hasan visited the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) on Monday afternoon. During this time, she exchanged views with PIB Director General Faruk Wasif and officials from various departments and inquired about the overall activities and progress of the institution.
During the visit, PIB officials presented details of the institution’s training, research, publication and other activities in the last one year. They also informed the advisor about PIB’s role in improving the quality of journalism, capacity building and research-based initiatives.
At this time, the PIB Director General presented a set of the institution’s recent publications to the Honorable Advisor. Later, the advisor visited the office of fact-checking and media analysis activities run under the Research and Information Preservation Department of PIB.
After the visit, he was informed about the working methods, structure and working style of ‘BanglaFact’ (www.banglafact.com), the spokesperson for PIB’s fact-checking program, and commented that such initiatives are important for practicing responsible and objective journalism.
