A in-principle decision has been made to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bangladesh and Turkey for the purpose of knowledge exchange and information exchange related to modern information management.
The decision was taken during a bilateral meeting between Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan and Turkey’s Presidential Communications Directorate Director (Ministerial Rank) Professor Burhanuddin Duran on the second day of the ongoing International Strategic Communication Summit (STRATCOM) in Istanbul on Saturday (March 28, 2026). Bangladesh Ambassador to Turkey M Amanul Haque was present at the meeting.
Under the MoU, Bangladesh Television (BTV), Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) will work together with their Turkish counterparts in modern information management and strategy, and in improving technical and professional standards.
Earlier, the Information Minister paid a courtesy call on Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The meeting emphasized on issues of mutual interest of the two brotherly countries and further strengthening the existing friendly relations between the two countries.
Later, the Information Minister also met with top officials of the Turkish state news agency ‘Anadolu News Agency’. The meeting resulted in fruitful discussions on a MoU on news exchange and institutional cooperation between the two countries’ major news agencies.
It is to be noted that the Information Minister is expected to return home on March 30 after participating in the two-day International Strategic Communication Summit at the invitation of the Turkish government.
