In an effort to deepen cultural ties and strengthen international collaboration through sport, Md Al Mamun, President and Founder of the International Ethnosport Bangladesh Association (IEBA), met with Dr. Bernd Spanier, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the European Union Delegation to Bangladesh, at the EU’s Gulshan office in Dhaka on Tuesday (15 July 2025).

According to a press release, the meeting focused on the growing importance of ethnosports as a bridge between cultures and a tool for fostering unity among nations. Ethnosports, which are traditional heritage-based sports, have gained prominence globally for their ability to promote cultural diversity and mutual respect.


During the meeting, Mr. Mamun presented an overview of IEBA’s ongoing activities and future plans, emphasizing the association’s commitment to promoting Bangladesh’s cultural legacy through international ethnosport events. He highlighted how ethnosports can be instrumental in engaging youth, encouraging intercultural exchange, and contributing to global harmony.
During the meeting, Mr. Mamun presented an overview of IEBA’s ongoing activities and future plans, highlighting the association’s mission to position Bangladesh as a key player in the global ethnosport arena. He emphasized ethnosports as a unique platform for intercultural dialogue, youth development, and international cooperation.
Dr. Spanier applauded IEBA’s initiatives. “Today’s meeting reflects a mutual dedication to using sport as a unifying force. Ethnosport stands as a vibrant platform that connects communities and preserves cultural heritage,” he said.
