The advisor gave this instruction as the chief guest at a law and order exchange meeting organized by the Mymensingh Divisional Administration on Monday (February 02, 2026) afternoon at the Mymensingh City Corporation Conference Room to ensure the smooth conduct of the ‘Thirteenth National Assembly Election and Referendum-2026’.

The chief guest said that no one should be allowed to violate the law in the election. If they do anything illegal, they will be brought under the law. The advisor directed the officers and law enforcement officers engaged in the election to thoroughly understand and follow the Representation of the People Order (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; ‘Code of Conduct for Political Parties and Candidates in Parliamentary Elections, 2025’; circulars issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the instructions of the Election Commission to enforce the law and comply with the election code of conduct.

The advisor said that all subordinate officers and employees should be constantly instructed to follow the election code of conduct. If necessary, meetings can be called at the district and metropolitan levels at the beginning or end of the daily office or at a specific time regarding election preparations, various problems, current activities, future programs, dos and don’ts and code of conduct activities.

The advisor said that the election officials, including the returning and assistant returning officers, must ensure that honesty, efficiency and impartiality are maintained in the appointment of presiding, assistant presiding and polling officers. He said that officials who are identified and known to be friends of fascists cannot be involved in election duties under any circumstances. Those who were involved in irregularities in previous elections, are partisan or controversial cannot be assigned to election duties under any circumstances.

The home affairs advisor said that the use of the ‘Election Protection App-2026’, which has been prepared by the National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC), will play the most effective role in controlling law and order in this election. Various law enforcement agencies, returning officers, assistant returning officers and the central control room of the Ministry of Home Affairs will be linked to this. He said that this app will play a role in immediately receiving complaints related to law and order and its quick redressal/control. He also said that the training of election officials and law enforcement members on the use of the app should be completed quickly.

Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said that each polling station, including the voting booth, should be kept clean and prepared in a manner suitable for the election environment. Necessary measures should be taken to ensure that the main road leading to the polling station is smooth and suitable for transportation. The advisor said that it is necessary to ensure the safety of the ballot boxes and election equipment and to ensure that they reach the polling station on time. In short, all necessary cooperation and logistical support related to the election should be ensured.

Describing his own election experience, the Home Secretary said, if the officials and law enforcement officers assigned to the election perform their duties with honesty, efficiency and sincerity, it is possible to deliver a free, fair, impartial and festive election in any situation. He said, it is our moral and religious responsibility to deliver a free, fair and impartial election.
