Home Affairs Adviser calls for celebrating Sharadiya Durga Puja with sanctity

Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) has called for celebrating Sharadiya Durga Puja with sanctity and religious solemnity.

The advisor made this call while briefing journalists after visiting the puja mandap at Dhakeshwari National Temple in the capital on Tuesday (September 30, 2025) afternoon.

The Adviser said that Sharadiya Durga Puja is a sacred religious festival. Therefore, everyone must protect its sanctity. Care should be taken that no anti-social activities take place here. Care should also be taken that no one enters the mandap with shoes on.

Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said that some observers in the Chittagong Hill Tracts tried to prevent the puja from being held smoothly and safely. But their efforts were completely unsuccessful. The advisor said that some fascist friends also cooperated with them. They were not successful due to the cooperation of everyone, including the followers of traditional religion.

President of Bangladesh Puja Udjavan Parishad Basudeb Dhar, President of Dhaka Metropolitan Universal Puja Committee Jayanta Kumar Deb and others were present at the briefing.
