The State University of Bangladesh (SUB) celebrated the Freshers’ Reception “Meet and Greet 2025” for the students of Fall-2024 and Spring-2025 semesters with great enthusiasm. The event, held on Thursday (February 27) morning, was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor (Designate) Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain Khan. The event was graced by the presence of the distinguished poet, essayist, journalist, and editor of the daily Jugantor, Abdul Hai Shikdar, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Suchorita Ahmed, a member of the Board of Trustees, attended as a Special Guest

The program commenced with a warm welcome speech by the Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nawzia Yasmin and Registrar Dr. Ahmed Hossain. Assistant Professor and Proctor Shah Reza M. Fahad Hossain introduced the new students to SUB’s mission, vision, academic guidelines, career services, library, IT facilities, club activities, transport system, and other available amenities.
In his speech, Chief Guest Abdul Hai Shikdar remarked, “Success does not come easily, one has to chase it persistently. Although the journey may be exhausting, giving up is not an option. One day, success will knock on your door. Believe in yourself, and you can achieve anything.” He also shared the success story of the Nobel Laureate and Chief Advisor of SUB, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, as an inspiring example for students
Presiding over the event, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain Khan emphasized, “Education plays a crucial role in national development. It is our duty to contribute to the nation through quality education. Teachers must fulfill their responsibilities in shaping students into ideal citizens, while students should ensure the effective utilization of their time.”


The program featured an enthralling cultural segment, including dance and musical performances by freshers. A special highlight of the event was the electrifying performance by the popular band ‘Bioscope. The closing remarks were delivered by the university’s Treasurer, Professor Dr. Hasan Kawsar
The day-long event concluded in a vibrant and joyful atmosphere with active participation from the freshers. Department heads, directors, coordinators, faculty members, administrative staff, and other officials were also present at the event.
