Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury said that the government is working to restore the real quality of education.
The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at the annual sports, cultural and award distribution ceremony of Kazi Salima Haque Women’s Degree College in Mohammadpur Upazila of Magura on Saturday (April 25, 2026). Earlier, he was given a colorful reception on the college premises.
Regarding the reform of the education system, the minister said that the government is working to restore the real quality of education. There is a plan to increase the salaries and allowances of teachers to improve the living standards, but teachers will also have to go to class with regular preparation and be more careful about students.
Highlighting the country’s development activities, the minister further said that at least two canal excavations have already started in each upazila. A target of 20,000 kilometers of canal excavations this year and 500 million trees planted in the next few years has been set. In addition, the family card will be launched in full swing from next July. In addition to the farmer card, there is a multi-faceted action plan to increase the salary of imams and priests, introduce health cards and special cards for cultural workers.
Magura District Council Administrator Ali Ahmed, Magura District Nationalist Party Joint Convener Advocate Roknuzzaman Khan and Advocate Mithun Roy Chowdhury, and Mohammadpur Upazila Executive Officer Muhammad Shahnur Zaman were present as special guests at the event, chaired by Kazi Salima Haque Women’s Degree College President Newaz Halima Arli.
College students, teachers, guardians and local dignitaries were present at the event. At this time, the minister handed over prizes to the winners of the annual sports and cultural competitions.
