Diplomatic Desk:
Dr. Rüdiger Lotz, the German Ambassador to Bangladesh, emphasized the importance of dialogue and mutual cooperation in addressing challenges related to energy security, economic risks, and multilateral cooperation within an evolving and increasingly interconnected global order.

He made these remarks on Sunday (October 11, 2026) while delivering a special lecture to participants of the 32nd Specialized Diplomatic Training Course (SDTC) and the 4th Professional Master’s in International Relations and Diplomacy (PMIRD) at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.
Highlighting a crucial reality of the current global landscape, Ambassador Lotz stated, “Economic interdependence has grown, but so has vulnerability.” Referring to ongoing disruptions in energy supply chains, he noted that while the interdependence of the global economy and supply systems has increased, various crises are simultaneously heightening the vulnerability and uncertainty faced by nations.
He further remarked that the mere transition of the global order toward a multipolar system does not guarantee multilateral cooperation. In the current complex international environment, it is imperative to address global challenges through mutual understanding, effective dialogue, and collective initiatives.
A total of 32 participants attended the event, including 26 officials from the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs and six diplomats from Botswana, Guyana, Kenya, Nepal, Rwanda, and Tanzania. The session concluded with an exchange of views between the Ambassador and the aspiring diplomats regarding global affairs and the future of international cooperation.
During his visit, Ambassador Lotz also met with Nahida Sobhan, Rector of the Foreign Service Academy.
