State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque said that the government has taken the initiative to implement an integrated sports framework to put the country’s sports on a sustainable basis. Through this, training, financial support and social security will be ensured for national and grassroots level players.
The State Minister said these things at a view-exchange meeting with officials of various government departments, sports organizers and political leaders at Sylhet Circuit House on Wednesday (April 01, 2026).
The State Minister said that the goal has been set to bring potential players under development programs step by step in the next five to ten years. The government is working to bring national-level players under a planned management to develop their skills and build international standards.
The State Minister said that the government is committed to establishing sports as an important means of nation-building, not just limiting them to entertainment. Noting that most of the country’s players come from middle-class and lower-middle-class families, he said that initiatives have been taken to improve the performance of the players and ensure their families’ financial and social security.
The State Minister said that a plan to spread sports across the country is being implemented. Through this, initiatives have been taken to keep the youth interested in sports and away from drugs and social degradation. He said that various welfare programs, including providing allowances to players, have already been launched and sports infrastructure development and renovation programs are underway at the district and upazila levels.
He expressed hope that Bangladesh’s sports will move further forward at the international level with the joint efforts of all concerned.
