Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said that the current government is determined to fulfill all the expectations of the people of the country. The government is running the country inspired by the philosophy and ideals of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and the main goal of the government is to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people through the implementation of the election manifesto.

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organized on the occasion of the 45th martyrdom anniversary of martyred President Ziaur Rahman at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium in the capital on Sunday (May 31, 2026) afternoon. The program was organized by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Tarique Rahman said that a very important and challenging time awaits the country ahead. He told the leaders, workers and supporters that neglecting this time may cause irreparable damage not only to the individual but also to the country and future generations. He called on everyone to work unitedly in running the country by following the dreams and ideals of Shaheed Zia.

Stressing the importance of cooperation from party leaders and workers to ensure the success of the government, the Prime Minister said that proper cooperation must be provided in implementing every positive initiative of the government. The government will be successful only when every party worker and supporter plays a responsible role.
Highlighting the need for family education to prevent social degradation, he said that after returning home, he felt that there was some deficiency in family education. He also said that necessary instructions have been given to those concerned to strengthen social and family values.
Reminiscing about his father, martyred President Ziaur Rahman, Tarique Rahman said that once many people in the world knew Bangladesh through Ziaur Rahman. As a son, this is a matter of pride for him.
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir presided over the program. BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Selima Rahman and Professor AZM Zahid Hossain, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and leaders of the party’s central and subsidiary organizations.
In addition, economist Mahbub Ullah, University Grants Commission Chairman Mamun Ahmed, National University Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr. Md. Lutfar Rahman and Bangladesh Open University Deputy Vice Chancellor Dil Rawshan Jinnat Ara Nazneen discussed the life, work and national contribution of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman at the event.
