Government committed to the development of marginalized people: Water Resources Minister

Water Resources Minister Md. Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie said that the government is committed to the development of marginalized people. Family cards have already been distributed as per the government’s election manifesto. Later, women’s empowerment will be ensured through the distribution of family cards in phases across the country.

The minister said these things in his special guest speech at the family card distribution ceremony at Kushakali Annie Chowdhury High School in the newly formed Chandraganj Upazila in Lakshmipur on Saturday (May 16, 2026).

The minister said that the current government is working for public welfare. The canal digging program of martyred President Ziaur Rahman has been restarted, which he said will usher in a revival and revolution in agriculture.

Meanwhile, family cards were distributed to 1250 people of Ward No. 5 of Kusakhali Union of the newly formed Chandraganj Upazila.

The inauguration ceremony, chaired by District Administrator SM Mehedi Hasan, was attended by MPs Abul Khair Bhuiyan and Shahadat Hossain Selim, Superintendent of Police Md. Abu Tarek, District Council Administrator Sahab Uddin Sabu, among others. In addition, senior administration officials, beneficiaries, and leaders of BNP and its affiliates were present.
