General students including DUCSU leaders surrounded the VC’s office demanding renaming of two DU halls

General students including leaders of the Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) surrounded the VC’s office today (December 21, 2025) demanding renaming of two residential halls of Dhaka University (DU).

They demanded changing the name of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall to ‘Shaheed Osman Hadi Hall’ and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall to ‘Bir Protik Setara Begum’. Along with this, they demanded taking administrative action against DU teachers, officials and employees who supported the July massacre.

At around 2:30 pm, leaders of various levels of DUCSU and Hall Sangsad and residential students took positions in front of the administrative building.
