France reaffirms commitment to developing Bangladesh’s air traffic system

Diplomatic Desk:

A new era in Bangladesh’s aviation sector has begun with the inauguration of the country’s state-of-the-art Air Traffic Management (ATM) center. The inauguration ceremony was attended by French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Serre-Charlet, Civil Aviation Minister Afroza Khanam and State Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat.

Speaking at the event, French Ambassador Jean-Marc Serre-Charlet said that this project is a shining example of the growing cooperation between Bangladesh and France. He noted, “This cooperation proves that it is possible to build new relations between the two countries through mutual partnership.”

He also said that France is interested in continuing its cooperation in the development of Bangladesh’s aviation sector in the future. At the same time, he emphasized on ensuring a level playing field for European companies, which will help attract more investment to Bangladesh. This project is being considered a major step in the modernization of the country’s aviation system and is also seen as an important milestone in the Bangladesh-France partnership.

Implemented under the leadership of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), this project has launched a state-of-the-art national airspace management system, which will significantly increase the safety, efficiency and capacity of the airspace.

Built with the assistance of French technology company Thales, this infrastructure is fully compliant with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards. It has been integrated with advanced air traffic control and surveillance technology.

The main focus of this modernization is the new Air Traffic Management Center, as well as the modern control tower and radar facilities installed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. These developments will make it possible to monitor and coordinate aircraft movements in the country’s airspace more accurately.

The project, in addition to upgrading Bangladesh’s aviation sector to international standards, has also created the potential for further expansion and connectivity in the future, according to those concerned.
