First-ever Sustainable Market Access Bootcamp program for the jute sector inaugurated

The first hybrid webinar of the “Sustainable Market Access Bootcamp – Jute Sector” program was held on Tuesday (July 1, 2025) at the initiative of the Ministry of Commerce and in collaboration with the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, the WTO Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) in Geneva, and the International Trade Centre (ITC) in Geneva.

It is to be noted that the WTO Division of the Ministry of Commerce is working as the National Implementation Unit (NIU) of this program, which was undertaken with the joint technical assistance of EIF and ITC.

The aim of this Bootcamp program is to increase the export capacity of small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) in the jute sector; diversify jute products, maintain sustainable quality, enhance the skills of participants in other important areas including branding of jute products and digital marketing. The three-month program, which runs from July 2025 to September 2025, includes a series of webinars, one-to-one mentoring, and a three-day live and practical workshop.

The webinar titled “State of the Industry” under the program was held live on Tuesday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Jute Diversification Promotion Center (JDPC) auditorium and online on the Zoom platform. About 100 participants, including jute sector-based entrepreneurs, exporters, and representatives of international development cooperation organizations, participated in this hybrid mode webinar in person and 145 participants online.

Dr. Nazneen Kausar Chowdhury, Head of WTO Division, Ministry of Commerce and EIF’s Bangladesh Focal Point, was present as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. Welcome speeches were delivered by representatives of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute and EIF. A detailed introduction to the Bootcamp was provided by Mr. Experienced international business strategist Ms. Tara Mulhair gave a keynote presentation on Duc Dang and the current state of the jute sector.
