Today, Sunday (July 12, 2026), Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury expressed deep shock and sorrow over the death of renowned politician, veteran lawyer, former Speaker of the National Assembly and former Acting President Barrister Zamir Uddin Sarkar.
In a condolence message, he said that Barrister Zamir Uddin Sarkar was a shining star in the political and legal world of Bangladesh, a constitutional and legal expert of the Supreme Court. His role in organizing the Supreme Court lawyers for the Liberation War in 1971 was unique. He was one of the founding members of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and made an important contribution to the country’s politics as a member of its standing committee.
Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury prayed for the forgiveness of his departed soul and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family. .
