Desk Report:

State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md. Shariful Alam said, jute is intertwined with our tradition, culture and life. Today, it has fallen behind a lot. Our election promise was to reopen closed jute mills. To implement that promise, employment will be created by diversifying jute products under the leadership of the Prime Minister.

The State Minister for Textiles and Jute said these things while inspecting the activities and progress of the ‘Textile Vocational Institute’ project in Pirojpur on Saturday (March 14, 2026).

The State Minister said, our government is very young, yet we are making various plans so that these can be visible in a very short time. In addition, steps have been taken to increase jute and jute seed production and create employment by reopening closed mill factories.

Shariful Alam said that Prime Minister Khaleda Zia had banned plastic in 2001, and in continuation of this, people will be encouraged to use these jute and jute products by creating public opinion against plastic. Initiatives are already being taken in various government offices to use jute products as daily necessities.

Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute Bilkis Jahan Rimi, Joint Secretary Zahid Hossain, Project Director Sadat Apu Sayem, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department Pirojpur Md. Shahidul Islam, General Secretary of Bhandaria Upazila BNP Monir Hossain Akon, Convener of Municipal BNP Abdul Mannan Howlader and leaders of BNP and its affiliates were present at the time.
