Effective role of field-level officers will transform into economic power: Fisheries and Livestock Minister

Desk Report:

Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid has said that it is possible to establish agro-products as the country’s main export product through proper planning, efficient management and effective initiatives at the field level. If the new officers work in a field-oriented manner, the agricultural potential will be transformed into economic power and the country’s food security and socio-economic development will be ensured.

The minister said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of a five-day awareness course attended by newly appointed officers of the 44th BCS (Livestock) at the Soil Resources Development Institute in the capital on Thursday (February 26, 2026).

The minister said that if cow dung is properly processed and applied, the use of chemical fertilizers will be reduced, environmental pollution will be reduced and soil fertility will be preserved. He said, “We are importing chemical fertilizers by spending crores of taka, but if we use cow dung properly, both the soil and the environment will be protected.”

Amin Ur Rashid told the new officials that you are responsible for serving the people. If these natural and agricultural resources of the country are used properly, the future generations will be able to enjoy a beautiful, prosperous and sustainable Bangladesh. He further said that if we work in the field with honesty, responsibility and efficiency, Bangladesh will be able to create a strong economic foundation in the field of agriculture and food security.

The minister said that the current democratic government has adopted a multifaceted plan for the development of the country’s livestock sector since assuming power. Initiatives have already been taken to ensure fair prices for cattle breeders, easy credit and insurance facilities, and launch farmers’ cards for marketing. He said that the growth of the country’s livestock industry should be maintained by ensuring necessary support to entrepreneurs and small farmers involved in the livestock sector. If the new officials join the workplace and work actively in the service of the people, the development and expansion of this sector will be ensured.

Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Abu Taher Muhammad Jaber was present as a special guest at the event. Director General of the Department of Livestock Dr. Md. Abu Sufian presided over the event. Director General of the Soil Resources Development Institute Dr. Begum Samia Sultana and senior officials of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock and the department were also present at the event. Later, the minister distributed certificates among the meritorious young officials.
