Desk Report:
A meeting of the Editors’ Council leaders was held with Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The meeting was held at the Public Administration Meeting Room of the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday (May 17, 2026) at noon.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yaser Khan Chowdhury and Prime Minister’s Information Advisor Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman were present in the meeting.
On behalf of the Editors’ Council, President and New Age Editor Nurul Kabir, General Secretary and Banik Barta Editor Dewan Hanif, The Daily Star Editor and Publisher Mahfuz Anam, Manabzamin Editor Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman, The Financial Express Editor Shamsul Haque Zahid, Dainik Inkilab Editor AMM Bahauddin, Suprabhat Bangladesh Editor Russo Mahmud and Dainik Karatoya Editor Md. Mozammel Haque were present.
Various contemporary issues of the media were discussed in the meeting. Later, the Prime Minister participated in a luncheon with the leaders of the Editors’ Council.
The Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Saleh Shibli and Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon were present at the time.
