Desk Report:
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan visited the site for the construction of the proposed bypass road from the capital’s 300 feet road to Banasree.

During the inspection, he was accompanied by RAJUK Chairman Engineer Md. Riazul Islam, Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Md. Nazrul Islam, Acting Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md. Sarwar, Chief Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) Md. Zia and Managing Director of Swadesh Properties Dr. M. A. Qayyum.

Residents of Dhaka-11 constituency have been complaining about severe traffic congestion on Pragati Sarani for a long time. The concerned said that if this bypass road, which is about 130 feet wide, is built, the traffic pressure on Pragati Sarani will be significantly reduced.

However, the construction of bridges over two canals is a big challenge in implementing the project. In addition, the concerned sources said that it will take some time to complete the necessary land acquisition process and construct the permanent road.

Meanwhile, alternative measures are being taken to ease the movement of the public until the construction of the permanent road is completed. Dr. M. A. Qayyum, Managing Director of Swadesh Properties, said that the road inside their Sun Valley project will be made suitable for movement and will be kept open as an alternative route temporarily.
The concerned hope that if the bypass road is built, traffic congestion will be reduced in this important area of the capital and the daily commute of the city residents will be more comfortable.
