A high level team from the Danish Investment Fund for Developing Countries (IFU) recently visited Bangladesh for an investment signing ceremony with AKS Khan Pharmaceuticals, focusing on the healthcare sector. This new strategic investment from IFU is aimed at driving sustainable development in the country.
This is also IFU’s first material investment in Bangladesh since KAFCO, in 1990.

On the occasion of the investment agreement signing, Danish Ambassador H.E. Mr Christian Brix Møller said, “IFU´s investment is a statement of trust and confidence towards the private sector in Bangladesh, and also to the interim government, especially in a pivotal moment when Bangladesh has seen an uprising and is making efforts to rebuild the nation.”
The visit also entailed high level meetings with the Hon. Adviser and Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Industries and the Senior Secretary of the LGRD Ministry, in relation to ongoing projects involving Denmark in Bangladesh.
The delegation, consisting of members from Danida Sustainable Infrastructure Finance (DSIF) also visited the Saidabad Water Treatment plant facilities. Saidabad plant is a testament of the strong partnership between Denmark and Bangladesh both in terms of financing and technical support. The extension of the plant through Phase III will bring additional 3 million city dwellers under the coverage of treated surface water.
