The two-day consultation on the Ethiopian National Blue Economy Coordination Platform has successfully concluded in Addis Ababa.
The meeting was attended by the Government of Ethiopia, the Ethiopian Maritime Authority, IGAD and various key stakeholders. The workshop focused on strengthening coordination at the national level through group work, discussions and knowledge sharing, identifying supporting tools and aligning the Blue Economy Strategy with Ethiopia’s national development plan.

The consultation adopted a number of recommendations on strengthening good governance, enhancing capacity in resource mobilization and integrating Blue Economy priorities into development frameworks.
This is seen as an important step towards a more inclusive and sustainable Blue Economy for Ethiopia, which is also in line with the Blue Economy Strategy of IGAD and the African Union.
