The Commerce Ministry has appointed administrators to the Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association and the Bangladesh Acid Merchants Association.
This information was given in a separate office order signed by Muhammad Rehan Uddin, Director General (Current Responsibilities) of the Ministry of Commerce’s Trade Organization.
In the order, Shayla Yasmin, Joint Secretary of the Commerce Ministry, was appointed as the administrator of the Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association and Deputy Secretary Md. Abdul Malek was appointed as the administrator of the Bangladesh Acid Merchants Association.
Trade Organization – Branch 2 Order No. 26.00.0000.000.157.33.0007.25.206 dated July 9 states, Whereas, Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association is a registered trade organization licensed by the Ministry of Commerce.
Whereas, the current committee of Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association could not submit a satisfactory reply to the show cause notice as to why the organization should not be declared as a dormant organization; Whereas, the Investigation Officer has given his opinion that there are errors in the preparation of the voter list and the normal activities of Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association are being disrupted.
Whereas, the Arbitration Tribunal of FBCCI has ruled that the election schedule of the Executive Committee of Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association for the period 2025-2027, dated 13/02/2025, was not declared as per Sub-rule (2) of Rule 15 of the Trade Organization Rules, 1994, and the voter list is defective.
Whereas, the activities of Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association are not being conducted properly.
Therefore, in accordance with Section 17 of the Trade Organization Act, 2022, the reconstituted Board of Directors of the organization has been dissolved and with the approval of the government, Shayla Yasmin, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, has been appointed as the Administrator of Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association. He shall complete a fair and impartial election process within 120 (one hundred and twenty) days: hand over the responsibility to the elected committee and inform this ministry.
The order number 26.00.0000.000.157.33.0023.02.207 of the same date states, Whereas, Bangladesh Acid Merchant Association is a registered trade organization licensed by the Ministry of Commerce.
Whereas, the current committee of Bangladesh Acid Merchant Association has conducted the election in violation of the judgment dated 09/02/2025 of the Arbitration Tribunal of FBCCI Case No.-01/2025.
Whereas, the implementation of the order dated 09.02.2025 by FBCCI and the issue of conducting the election in accordance with the rules and regulations of the organization have been ignored.
Whereas, there are errors in the election held on 13/02/2025 of Bangladesh Acid Merchant Association. Therefore, in accordance with Section 17 of the Trade Organizations Act, 2022, the term of the organization has been abolished and with the approval of the government, Md. Abdul Malek, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, has been appointed as the Administrator of Bangladesh Acid Merchants Association. He will complete a fair and impartial election process within 120 (one hundred and twenty) days: hand over the responsibility to the elected committee and inform this ministry.
