The Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh organized a reception in Dhaka on Wednesday (July 29, 2026) to mark the 99th founding anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). About 300 dignitaries, including high-ranking military and civilian officials from Bangladesh and China, participated in the event.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen, Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor Brigadier General AKM Shamsul Islam, Prime Minister’s Advisor Md. Ismail Zabiullah, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan, and military and government officials, along with diplomatic representatives and well-wishers from various countries, were present at the event.
Senior Colonel Du Xinsheng, Defense Attaché of the Chinese Embassy, spoke at the reception. He said that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the People’s Liberation Army is firmly moving forward on the path of building a strong modern military force with Chinese characteristics. In addition to protecting national sovereignty, security and development interests, the PLA is playing an important role in establishing regional and global peace.
He also said that China is steadfast in its friendly and good-neighborly policy towards the people of Bangladesh. China is committed to building a China-Bangladesh Community with a Shared Future in the new era. To this end, Beijing wants to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Bangladesh in various fields, including defense.
In his speech, Brigadier General AKM Shamsul Islam, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Defense, highly praised the success of the PLA’s modernization. He mentioned the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and China and expressed gratitude for China’s cooperation and assistance in developing Bangladesh’s defense capabilities.
The guests present at the event praised the various achievements in the modernization and development of China’s armed forces. At the same time, they expressed hope that in the new era, the initiative to build a community with a shared future between Bangladesh and China will be elevated to a higher level in the coming days and the strategic cooperation between the two countries will be further strengthened.
