The United Nations in Bangladesh today organized a state funeral in Dhaka for six Bangladeshi peacekeepers who were killed in action. The solemn ceremony was held to honor the peacekeepers who sacrificed their lives for the sake of world peace under the UN flag.

The state funeral was attended by the country’s Home Affairs Advisor, senior government officials, and the Chiefs of the Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force. They jointly paid tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the slain peacekeepers.


The Chief of Staff of the United Nations Interim Security Force (UNISFA) was present as the representative of the United Nations. He expressed solidarity with the families of the candidates and conveyed the deepest condolences and sympathy on behalf of the United Nations. He also reiterated the United Nations’ deep respect for the country’s commitment and contribution to peacekeeping in Bangladesh.
