Chief Advisor presents Independence Award to to seven distinguished individuals

Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has presented the ‘Independence Award-2025’ to seven eminent personalities in recognition of their outstanding contributions in their respective fields at the national level.

The Chief Advisor presented the country’s highest national civilian award at a ceremony held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday (March 25, 2025) morning.

This time, the recipients of the Swadhinata Puraskar are: Professor Jamal Nazrul Islam (posthumously) in Science and Technology, Mir Abdus Shukur Al Mahmud (posthumously) in Literature, Novera Ahmed (posthumously) in Culture, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed (posthumously) in Social Service, Mohammad Mahbubul Haque Khan alias Azam Khan (posthumously) in Liberation War and Culture, Badruddin Mohammad Umar in Education and Research, and Abrar Fahad (posthumously) in Protest Youth.

Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid hosted the award distribution ceremony. He read out the citations of the award winners.
