Chief Advisor congratulates those concerned for smooth Hajj management, instructs preparations for next year

Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus congratulated the Ministry of Religion and the concerned for completing the current year’s Hajj management smoothly. At the same time, he instructed the ministry to start preparations now so that next year’s Hajj management can be completed smoothly.

The Chief Advisor gave these instructions in a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Religion at the State Guest House Jamuna today, Thursday (June 26, 2025).

Expressing satisfaction with the fact that the roadmap for next year’s Hajj has already been published, the Chief Advisor told the officials of the Ministry of Religion, “We must identify the minor errors detected this year and take appropriate steps to prevent them from happening in the future.”

At that time, Religious Advisor AFM Khalid Hossain informed the Chief Advisor that the roadmap for next year’s Hajj management has already been announced through a newspaper notification and the Hajj quota for Bangladeshis will be announced on July 10.

Professor Yunus said in the meeting, “There were no complaints about the Hajj management this year. Everyone appreciated it. The officials of the ministry worked hard, congratulations and best wishes to everyone.”

Instructing to be sincere about making the example created this year of all registered pilgrims being able to perform Hajj a permanent policy of this ministry, he said, “Training arrangements must be made for all pilgrims and those involved in Hajj management. Training is very important so that everyone can perform Hajj without any problems.”

Highlighting various aspects of this year’s Hajj, Religious Affairs Secretary AKM Aftab Hossain Pramanik said that extensive preparations and planning have been undertaken for Hajj 2026 under the supervision of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and in light of the directives of the Saudi government. Several steps have been taken for a successful and orderly Hajj management.

He said that the registration of the pilgrims will be ensured by obtaining a medical fitness certificate for Saudi Arabia. Only certificates issued by the civil surgeons of different districts or the directors of dedicated government hospitals will be acceptable.

He said that the calendar and checklist of Hajj activities have been prepared according to the Saudi timeline and roadmap and effective steps have been taken to fulfill the quota of pilgrims.

He said that the Ministry of Religion has published the scheduled schedule for the smooth implementation of Hajj 2026 activities. The quota of Bangladesh for Hajj 2026 will be announced on July 10, 2025 and the final registration of pilgrims will be completed by October 21, 2025. The signing of agreements with various service providers will be completed on December 1, 2025 and the approval of vendors and quotations will be completed on January 4, 2026. After that, the issuance of visas to pilgrims will start from March 20, 2026 and flight operations will start from April 18, 2026. Finally, the test (service verification) of the holy Hajj will be completed on May 29, 2026.

The Ministry of Religion informed that this year, 87,100 Bangladeshi pilgrims have had the opportunity to perform the holy Hajj.

Pilgrims have easily received the necessary information through the ‘Labbaik’ mobile app and 30,234 people have registered on the app.

38 people have died naturally during Hajj this year. In addition, 24 people are currently undergoing treatment in various hospitals in Saudi Arabia. 51,615 pilgrims have returned to the country as of June 25. Religious Affairs Secretary AKM Aftab Hossain Pramanik said that so far, information has been received about 806 lost luggage. Of these, 790 luggage have been found. Efforts are being made to find the remaining 16 luggage.

He said that measures are being taken to cancel the licenses of 415 Hajj agencies for not being able to take pilgrims for three consecutive years.

Specific indicators have been used to evaluate the performance of Hajj agencies, including pilgrim satisfaction, contract compliance and adherence to government policies, which will place them in A Plus, A, B, C and D categories.

Principal Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus instructed to write a letter of congratulations to those who have achieved the A Plus category on behalf of the Principal Advisor.

The Principal Advisor instructed the concerned to make arrangements so that those who wish to go for Hajj next year can use the Labbaik app from now on and get answers to their various questions.

At the same time, he also asked to pay attention to ensuring that those wishing to perform the holy Umrah also get the necessary services from this app.
