He said to the July Daughters, ‘On behalf of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all of you on winning the prestigious 2025 US State Department ‘International Women of Courage’ Award. This recognition is a powerful testament to your extraordinary courage, leadership and unwavering commitment during the student-led mass uprising in July-August 2024; your achievements during that critical time have set an example of true courage.
By leading the mass uprising, you have not only stood as a symbol of resistance, but also given hope to the nation in a time of turmoil.
As the award states, with unwavering determination, you have faced violent repression, standing as a shield for your male comrades in the face of attacks by security forces. Even when the internet was down, you have found innovative ways to continue the fight for justice, despite the grave challenges.
Your strength, determination, and determination continue to inspire countless individuals and groups in Bangladesh and around the world. Your selfless efforts remind us all that the pursuit of justice is never easy, but it is always worthwhile. You have shown the world what true leadership and sacrifice look like, and through your courage, you have paved the way for a brighter and more just future for Bangladesh.
We are immensely proud of each of you and this is a recognition that reflects your unwavering passion. The Interim Government stands with you, and together, we will continue to work towards the ideals of democracy, justice, and freedom that you have so courageously defended.
