Chief Advisor calls for moving forward in creating the future world with Scouting experience

Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus has called for moving forward in creating the future world with Scouting experience.

Today, Monday (June 23, 2025) at 11:30 am, the inauguration of the nationwide Cub Carnival organized by Bangladesh Scouts and the Shapla Cub Award distribution ceremony were held at the Chief Advisor’s office. Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus was present as the chief guest at the event.

In his speech as the chief guest at the event, he said, ‘Today is a special day in the history of Scouting. Not only in the case of Scouting in Bangladesh, but in the case of Scouting in the whole world, today is a day of special pride. This history was created with the eight scouts who sacrificed their lives for the country, for the people of the country, and to create a new Bangladesh. There is no such precedent anywhere else in the history of Scouting. We congratulate the Scouts of Bangladesh on behalf of the whole world for creating history.’

Congratulating the awardees, he said, ‘Those who received the award and those who are present today, it is the responsibility of all of you to open the doors. Don’t stay in regret that the doors are closed. You have to open the doors. Since you have come a long way, because you have come forward, you have become a Scout, while the rest of your school has not. So it is your responsibility to open the doors for others. If you do not open, this door will remain closed.’

Mentioning that he himself is a proud member of the Scout family, the Chief Advisor reminisced about his student life. In 1955, at the age of 15, Professor Muhammad Yunus participated in the 10th World Boy Scout Jamboree held in Canada with the Boy Scout team. At that time, he got the opportunity to travel to Europe and North America.

He said, ‘This is a great opportunity; to discover the world, to discover a bigger self than that. Otherwise, there is no other opportunity to get to know yourself in a busy life. You must remember that you can create the world of the future with your scouting experience.’

Funded by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, the Cub Carnival is being implemented simultaneously in all the upazilas and special districts of Bangladesh under the management of the Bangladesh Scouts Program Department.

Cub Carnival inauguration and Shapla Cub Award distribution ceremonies are being organized simultaneously in a total of 527 places across the country, including 495 upazilas, 5 metropolitans, 5 sub-areas and 22 special scout districts.

Today, Monday, the Chief Advisor presented the highest award of Cub Scouts, the “Shapla Cub Award”, and the ‘Gallantry Award’ of Bangladesh Scouts to the family members of eight scouts who were martyred in the July Movement for their bravery.

Scouter Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mughd, Rover Rohan Ahmed Khan, Rover Tanjir Khan Munna, Scout Sharif Uddin Ahmed Ahnaf, Scout Mahbub Alam, Scout Golam Nafiz, Scout Tahir Zaman Priyo, and Scout Ariful Islam Saad’s family members received the award from the Chief Advisor.
