Desk Report:
Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon said that cheating in public exams, jobs, teacher recruitment or any recruitment test will have to face punishment. The schools whose pass rate in the exam this year will be zero, their MPO will not be canceled as a grace period. CCTV will be installed in every center. This CCTV will be permanent, so that class learning can be monitored. Coaching centers will be closed in phases by introducing ‘in-house’ coaching in educational institutions. In this in-house coaching, students will be taught in the subject in which they are weak.
He said these things in his speech as the chief guest at a meeting on prevention of cheating in exams with the center secretaries of the Comilla Education Board, Madrasa and Technical Education Board on the occasion of SSC and equivalent exams 2026 in Comilla on Saturday (April 04, 2026). The event was presided over by Professor Md. Shamsul Islam, Chairman of the Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Comilla.
The minister said that education is at the heart of the vision adopted under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to build a “future Bangladesh”. To achieve this goal, it is essential to establish a cheating-free, disciplined and quality education system.
The education minister, citing past experience, said that the quality of education had visibly increased due to strict anti-cheating measures taken during the 2001-2006 period. But later, that continuity was disrupted due to various reasons. He said, “We want to return to the right path again, where teachers, students and the administration will collectively build an honest and accountable education system.”
The issue of modernizing the Public Examination Act of 1980 to prevent cheating was given special importance in the meeting. The minister said that the law is being amended in line with the advancement of technology, so that all types of cheating, including digital cheating, can be prevented. The new proposal includes provisions to ensure the accountability of the central secretary, heads of educational institutions and those concerned. He further said that if evidence of cheating is found in any examination center, all those concerned will be brought under the law and if necessary, random checking will be introduced in the post-examination account evaluation.
In his speech, the minister also recalled the contribution of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia with deep respect. He mentioned that it was during her time that the foundation for establishing discipline and integrity in the education sector was strengthened, which is working as a guide for the current reform activities.
The meeting was attended by Comilla-5 MP Md. Jasim Uddin, Comilla-10 MP Md. Mobasher Alam Bhuiyan, Comilla-6 MP Monirul Haque Chowdhury, Comilla-9 MP Md. Abul Kalam, Brahmanbaria-5 MP Md.
