Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs meeting held virtually via Zoom app

Desk Report:

The 29th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs for the fiscal year 2025-26 and the 6th meeting of 2026 was held on Thursday (March 26, 2026). The meeting was held virtually via Zoom app under the chairmanship of Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Convener of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, Minister for Finance and Planning.

In the meeting, in view of the unstable situation arising in the wake of the Iran and US-Israel wars, in-principle approval was given to purchase 1.00 (one) lakh metric tons (55%) of EN590 (10 PPM) diesel from AP Energy Investments Limited through direct purchase method in international procurement.

In addition, in the same context, in-principle approval has been given to purchase 2.00 (two) lakh metric tons of EN590 EURO-5 (10 PPM) diesel from Superstar International (Group) Limited through direct international procurement to meet the urgent fuel needs in the country.
