Business leaders, led by FBCCI President Mr. Mahbubul Alam, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman on August 22, 2024 at Army Headquarter, Dhaka.

The delegation included former president of FBCCI, Mr. Mahbubur Rahman, Mr. Abdul Awal Mintu, Mr. Mir Nasir Hossain, Mr. AK Azad, Mr. Md. Jasim Uddin, Managing Director of Square Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Tapan Chowdhury, President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Ashraf Ahmed, Acting President of BGMEA Mr. Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Bangladesh Mr. Nasir Ejaz Vijay.
At this time, the business leaders want the cooperation of the Bangladesh Army to prevent extortion, including strengthening the security of industrial and business establishments in order to ensure a business-friendly environment in the country and to keep the production and supply system of industrial factories operational.
Meanwhile, FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam thanked the Bangladesh Service Force for conducting various activities and patrolling in the industrial areas on the issue of industrial security. Meanwhile, the FBCCI president expressed interest in working with the Army to strengthen security in the industry and restore confidence among traders.
The army chief assured the business leaders that they will properly fulfill their responsibility to ensure the safety of all the citizens of the country as well as the business community. He said that the Bangladesh Army is always active to ensure that domestic and foreign investors can carry out commercial activities smoothly, including industrial establishments, supply chain, port security.
Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman urged the business community to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies in case of any threat to any industrial establishment.
