Business In Bangladesh Editor Extends Greetings at the Reception Marking Singapore’s 61st National Day

Business In Bangladesh Editor Engr. Mohammad Shajibul-Al-Rajib, participated as an invited guest in the reception hosted by the Singapore High Commission in Dhaka to mark Singapore’s 61st National Day.

Sheikh Rabiul Alam, Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Railways, and Shipping, attended the event as the chief guest. Extending warm National Day greetings to the government and people of Singapore, he stated that the bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and Singapore is founded on mutual respect, trust, and goodwill.

Expressing hope for increased employment opportunities for Bangladeshis in Singapore and stronger people-to-people ties, he remarked that robust people-to-people connections would further deepen the friendship between the two nations.

Speaking at the event, outgoing Chargé d’Affaires Mitchel Lee noted that the values ​​of unity, pluralism, democracy, justice, and equality—which are reflected in Singapore’s national ethos—remain highly relevant even in the changing global landscape. She highlighted that these values ​​are also significant for Bangladesh’s development and future progress.

Expressing Singapore’s optimism regarding Bangladesh’s long-term potential, Mitchel Lee mentioned opportunities to expand cooperation in various sectors, including port management, logistics, aviation, the digital economy, and capacity building.

In her farewell remarks, Mitchel Lee thanked everyone present for the warm friendship and cooperation extended to her during her tenure in Dhaka.

Philip Ong, the incoming Chargé d’Affaires of the Singapore High Commission, stated that participating in the Singapore National Day celebration was one of his first official engagements after assuming his duties in Dhaka.

Philip Ong noted that his government’s directive is to make the economic relationship between the two countries deeper, more multifaceted, and dynamic. He expressed his expectation to explore new areas of cooperation and further strengthen existing people-to-people ties during his tenure in Bangladesh. Diplomats from various countries stationed in Bangladesh, political figures, government and private sector officials, businesspeople, cultural personalities, and prominent citizens were present at the event.
