BSTI, Russian Federal Agency Sign MoU to Strengthen Cooperation in Standardization and Technical Regulation

A significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Bangladesh and Russia to strengthen cooperation in standardization and technical regulation. The agreement was signed between the Russian Federal Agency on Technical Regulation and Metrology and the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).

Minister-Counselor of the Russian Embassy, Ms. Ekaterina Semenova, handed over a copy of the MoU signed on behalf of Russia, while BSTI Director General S. M. Ferdous Alam signed the agreement on behalf of Bangladesh.

Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Industries, Ms. Maksura Noor, was present as the chief guest at the event.

In their welcoming remarks, both Ms. Semenova and Director General S.M. Ferdous Alam described the MoU as a new chapter in cooperation in the field of standards. They said that this agreement will help facilitate and accelerate bilateral trade between Russia and Bangladesh in the future.

Under the agreement, both countries will provide each other with information on national standards and technical regulations, publications, standardization activities and research programs, and work on capacity building through exchange of experience.
