Today, Sunday (December 21, 2025), a view-exchange meeting was held at the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden Hotel on the occasion of the historic homecoming of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Mr. Tarique Rahman, with respected editors of various daily newspapers and online news portals of the country, news heads of radio and television, and media personalities.

The meeting was attended by BNP National Standing Committee member and convener of the ‘Tareque Rahman-Homecoming Committee’ Salahuddin Ahmed, BNP Senior Secretary and Committee Member Secretary Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, and BNP Media Cell Convener Professor Dr. Moudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel.
BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed said, “If BNP comes to power in the future, it will provide full cooperation to the media, keeping in mind the repression of the past fascist government.”
Stating that the people of the country want full democracy, he further said, “The public expectations and aspirations of the people of the country are very high. All the people of Bangladesh want full democracy. Democracy must be institutionalized in all fields and those institutions must be strengthened and made the guardians of democracy.”
Regarding Tarique Rahman’s return to his homeland, Salahuddin Ahmed said, “People are hoping that the pillar of democracy in Bangladesh will be strengthened through Tarique Rahman’s return. He was forced to live a difficult life in exile for 18 long years. We want to use his return to strengthen democracy. This is our expectation.”

Besides, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “Attacking someone because of their opinion or statement is in no way acceptable. Such incidents cause deep concern even in the post-fascist era.”
