BNP will establish the Bangladesh desired by all martyrs if it comes to power: BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman

Staff Correspondent:

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that the sacrifices of those who have sacrificed their lives in mass movements and struggles at various times in Bangladesh’s history can never be allowed to go in vain. It is possible to pay true respect to the martyrs only through the establishment of a just and democratic state.

He said these things in his address to the nation on the occasion of the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026 at around 7:15 pm on Monday (February 9).

Tarique Rahman said that from the great Liberation War of 1971, the anti-hegemonic movement of November 7, the anti-dictatorship mass movement of the 1990s, the Shapla Chattar massacre and the latest struggle to protect independence in 2024 – countless people have sacrificed their lives for the country at every turn of history.

He said, with the end of a life, the dreams, hopes and possibilities of a family also end. It is not possible to fully compensate for that loss with anything. However, it is the responsibility of those who are still alive to establish the Bangladesh desired by the martyrs.

The BNP chairman further said, building a just, humane and accountable democratic state can be the highest respect for all the lives sacrificed for the country and the people. It is not possible to protect the dignity of the martyrs’ sacrifice without establishing democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
